She served as a writer, producer, and editor on “BORN FREE,” an independent birth documentary that showcased her diverse skill set. Stepping into the director’s chair, Stephanie wrote, produced, and edited her debut short film, “ELSEWHERE LOVE,” which premiered at the Guadalajara Film Festival and continues to captivate audiences on the festival circuit. A tender love letter to oneself, the short film is an abstract poetic piece that explores the theme of rebirth from heartbreak.
Stephanie Zenee Perez holds a Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in Editing from the American Film Institute Conservatory, complemented by a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her artistic journey reflects a commitment to authentic storytelling, pushing boundaries, and amplifying the voices of those often unheard in the cinematic landscape.

Stephanie Zenee Perez is a Los Angeles based editor-turned-writer-director.
As a queer first-generation Mexican-American, she is passionately dedicated to crafting narratives that delve into the intricacies of the human experience, celebrate diverse cultures, and shed light on underrepresented communities.
Embarking on her filmmaking journey, Stephanie initially distinguished herself as an editor, notably contributing to the fully improvised feature film, “THE FEELS.” She then transitioned to the studio landscape, joining Lionsgate as an assistant in the Feature Post Production department where she contributed to the production of various studio films, including “A SIMPLE FAVOR,” “THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME,” “ROBIN HOOD,” “HOW TO BE A LATIN LOVER,” and “POWER RANGERS.”
Stephanie’s editorial expertise extends to the small screen, where here has significantly influenced high-profile narrative TV series such as “MR. & MRS.
